In the cold opener, Reese wants to sneak out of the house, but Lois suspects that he's up to something so she says that she's going to stand in his doorway until he goes to sleep. He pretends to go to sleep, but really he stays awake and waits for her to leave. After what must have been quite a long time, Reese says somthing like "she can't stand there all night." Then the camera pans out to reveal that "Lois" is actually a cardboard cutout. Hope this helps.
