Watch Frankie Muniz in ‘Extreme Movie’ [DVD Release]

Originally titled Parental Guidance Suggested, Extreme Movie is the very long awaited movie co-starring Frankie as Chuck, that he filmed a few years ago. In December it was shown in select theatres and finally its out on DVD. The film is a series of loosely related scenes, Frankie only appears in the scene before the opening credits. Its a pretty funny scene full of sex, sheep, gimps, Nazis, babies, mice, midgets and Frankie in his underwear! Watch his whole scene above.

For some really strange reason there is still no normal trailer, however they have produced two tie in websites with ‘viral’ marketing and video clips – STD e-cards & Abraham Sex. Neither feature Frankie.

See screen caps from the movie in our GALLERY. Hardcore MITM fans will notice a short scene with our very own Meagen Fay who played Gretchen Mannkusser of the Grotto.

NEXT LEVEL! Buy the DVD on Amazon.

<em>Parental Guidance Suggested</em> like <a href="http://www.malcolminthemiddle.co.uk/2008/01/15/frankie-munizs-my-sexiest-year-update/"><em>My Sexiest Year</em></a> has been a long awaited film starring Frankie Muniz. <a href="http://www.malcolminthemiddle.co.uk/2007/09/16/frankie-munizs-parental-guidance-suggested-photo/">We have had very little information</a>, its a teen sketch sex comedy, there is no trailer yet and the only image of Frankie in the film <a href="http://www.malcolminthemiddle.co.uk/2007/09/16/frankie-munizs-parental-guidance-suggested-photo/">is here</a>. <strong>It has however been renamed <em>Extreme Movie</em></strong> and is set to be released by DIMENSION EXTREME, Dimension Films new DVD distribution arm which describes itself as, <em>"home to the most intense, edgy and provocative programming that will continually push the envelope".</em>

There is no release date as of yet but I'd expect it in the first half of this year. You can see the titles of the film above, created by <a href="http://thenovaproject.com/em.html" title="Source" target="_blank">The Nova Project</a>.
  • This whole situation sounds so promising...... (sarcasm)
  • Extreme Movie will be released unrated on DVD on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 by new distributor DIMENSION EXTREME. Frankie's character is named Chuck and the film's run time is 75 minutes.

Extreme Movie is currently available for pre-order from Amazon.
  • I liked Parental Guidance Suggested better; I forgot they renamed it and had no iea what this thread was about!
  • I have to agree with YG. 'Extreme Movie' is so vague.

It reminds me of Extreme Makeover. It's funny because Extreme Makeover Home Edition is the only one still on the air so it's not really an "edition" at all anymore. Now we have Extreme Makeover Movie Edition.
  • ...Minus the 'makeover'. And yes, I've actually never seen another version myself.

Speaking of makeovers, I'm getting my hair completely redone tomorrow. I usually don't care that much how other people see me, but this is for me. I'm so glad that scraggly mass on my head is finally going to turn into something useful.
  • Dimension Extreme, the DVD distributor for "Extreme Movie" has set a release date of September 2nd for the film.

Here's the cover art for the DVD:

*As always, release dates are subject to change without notice.*
  • Actually I was really looking forward to seeing this movie, but the cover looks horrible
  • Wait....so Parental Guidance Suggested is now officially called Extreme Movie? That's a dumb name!

Yeah... Parental Guidance Suggested was simply the working title. Once complete, it was changed (could have been the distributors call rather than the film makers) to Extreme Movie. I preferred the working title; thought it was kind of inventive.
  • so...has it been released anywhere?
cause i cant find it in dutch stores

It hasn't been released anywhere yet. It'll be released on DVD in the US on September 2nd. I'm not sure when it'll be available in other countries.
  • Well the idea this was just a silly teen movie is out the window. The Dimension Extreme website seems to indicate they release exclusively unrated movies. The pics, which I wont post, show thier is some nudity. It seems possible it is being sent straight to DVD because it could not get an R rating.

Looks like it was pushed back towards the end of the year.

Yeah, it doesn't seem as though Dimension Extreme is not in any great rush to release this movie... Sometime in December is the current timeframe for DVD release. Subject to change, of course.

You're right, DE specializes in unrated horror and comedy films that push the limits in terms of violence, gore and nudity.

Originally the film was going to be released by regular Dimension Films, which would have brought it to theaters (with an R rating, most likely) but I think you're right in that the film's content was just too much for an R rating and thus the delay in release and the move to Dimension Extreme.

Very interesting. Thanks for the info and link, MalcolmFun. I don't think the film is all that long, unrated. Surely, there will be a lot that has to be edited out for a cable premiere and I guess extra commercials will make up the time? Hmm.
  • A brief update; Extreme Movie did end up receiving a 'R' rating from the MPAA and subsequently, Dimension Films decided a limited release (50 theaters at most) would be the way to go before making its way to DVD. The film will open in select markets on December 5th.
  • It's very close to the 5th, no trailer, nothing really.

If anybody has news we'd love to hear it.

I should have theater locations by Tuesday afternoon/evening (assuming Dimension does not pull the film from release). In the meantime the only two things I've been able to get are a new picture still from the film, courtesy of FilmJerk:

    and this revised/expanded film description:

    Quote:
Mike falls for the cutest girl in his class but finds he's looking for love in all the wrong places. Chuck loses his virginity with his girlfriend and finds she wants to take things much further, including farm animals and midgets. Barry is obsessed with building the perfect woman on his computer a la "Weird Science." Fred meets a girl online and goes to her home for role-playing sex games, only to realize he's in the wrong apartment. Mateus faces the aftermath of a crazy night of partying. Griffin falls in love with an electric vagina. All while a TV talk show host spoofs TV public service announcements about teen sex.
The character of Chuck is played by Frankie.

To be honest, I'm quite surprised that Dimension is going for a theatrical release of this film, as opposed to the original straight-to-DVD plan. My assumption is they are doing this solely based on the continued popularity of Michael Cera (Superbad, Juno, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist), who plays Fred in this film. I'm not sure this is the wisest move but we shall see.
  • Extreme Movie opens today on only three screens in the US, down from the 50+/- screens the distributor was planning on. It's unknown the reason for the significant theater count change.

The film is currently playing in the following cities only:

    Amsterdam, NY - Emerald Cinemas

Portland, OR - Clinton Street Theater

Columbia, SC - Carmike Wynnsong 10
  • Dimension Extreme seem to have dropped info on the DVD from their site, so instead of a DVD release, we get 3 cinemas. Great!

I still find it hard to believe that its actually playing anywhere, no website, no trailer.
  • Well, that has to be just about the most botched movie opening in history.
  • I completely agree with you...
  • From IMDB forum, from somebody who has seen it http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0806147/...flat/124575941

We where always unsure how big a role Frankie had. He was always listed as a big deal in the credits but I guess he was just guest starring? Unless thats just one scene?
  • Dimension Extreme has put back up their Extreme Movie page with a version of the DVD cover art which is posted earlier in this thread. Also, they are now stating the film will be released on DVD on February 24th.

  • SPOILER

They forget to have an actual plot in this movie. It would have been better if there was one and it led up to the funny Frankie scene at the conclusion. It might have made cultural waves like American Pie if it had. Instead, a limited release no one will see.

Some of the skits funny, some not. The finale accidently making porn song is not nearly as funny as the Malcolm in the Middle accidently filming porn at the ranch. Individual episodes of Malcolm are better then so many movies that have a similar premise.
  • I'm kind of loath to admit it, as I usually hate stuff like this, but I actually found that scene pretty funny. NEXT LEVEL!!!!

I have zero desire to sit through the rest of the film, but as a 5 minute skit, that worked.

TJ: The viral marketing thing would just be another way of cutting costs, instead of making a full blown trailer. It's just cheaper to produce little virals like that and then hope that consumers spread them around. Thus consumers market the product for you; enabling the people who are paid to market the film to sit around doing sweet f.a. whilst pretending they are being innovative.

EDIT: Just had a watch of aforementioned viral marketing; laughing at STD's, hmmm, that's.... tasteless. It's meant to be of course, but still. Also, I notice they got as far as Hepatitis then stopped. Obviously jokes about AIDS would just be sick, but Hepatitis, Syphilis, that's fine? Am I the only one who thinks there's some pretty twisted logic at work here? The whole thing leaves a pretty bad taste if I'm honest.
  • Well, so the movie may have been kind of a dud but Frankie certainly showed he was willing to go to the NEXT LEVEL on film compared to what he had done in Malcolm.
