How would their life be different if they actually had money? A bigger house? Different jobs? Better lives for the kids? Personally, I don't think so. I think the lack of money is one of the things that holds the family together.

Abundance of money might work temporarily but sooner or later I think something would tear Hal and Lois apart, like in Tiki Lounge. The boys wouldn't feel obliged to stick together anymore. The family that we know today wouldn't be if the family were rich.

I agree with you. Hal and Lois would be stuck up, and the boys would be asses. I mean, Im sorry they never got to have a little money in the show and I wish they would have at some point, but Im very, VERY, grateful they were not rich. Like you said, Sam, it would have torn the family apart.

I was thinking about this topic before and I came to the conclusion that mitm wouldn't be very interesting if the family would be rich.
They would have anything...that would be boring.
So they have a lot of problem and these problems are nutrients for the show. They are a very important part of the storyline.
    That's my opinion.

They would never stay rich. As we have seen when they had money before, they do dumb things with it and it is gone. The show would be less interesting, and the kids would annoy everyone because they would be like spoiled brats.

I agree with all of you. The series would be less interesting if they were rich.
The fact they are poor is a reason why they are so close in the familly (despite the characters don't want to show it), and it's a basis for many stories in the episodes.

And that's one of the points that make MITM different from the other series !

You said it. If the family was rich, there was no way the show would last a whole season, at most! Right now, let's be glad MitM held up the way it did.

I never really thought about it in terms of interest on the show before, but you're right--there's so many storylines that just couldn't exist if they had the money.

Say, for the sake of argument, that their money became limitless, so a $10,000 dollhouse couldn't eat up all the "excess" money. What sorts of things would they buy?

What would they buy? Stupid stuff. REALLY stupid stuff.
Hal-An endless collection of vintage record players.
Lois-She would pay for some professional to come massage her feet every day.
Reese-....I can't even imagine this one.
Malcolm-Stuff that will seem to make him popular(a car, etc).
Dewey-Dewey actually wouldn't splurge any money he gets...he's smart enough to invest and do that kind of stuff with his money.

    Anyway, that's what I think.

It would all depend what season of the boys we are thinking of to figure out what they would buy. The 1st season they probably would have bought candy.
