Oddly enough, I was just thinking about this the other day. I think Malcolm will get a "good" job, but not a great job. I think that as an adult, he will want to try and be normal and fit in more than when he was a teen. The most outrageous job I could see Malcolm is a lawyer. I really think he'll do something a bit more subtle and probably won't, to quote Lois, "be 28 and a billionaire."

Reese is tough. I think it really depends on whether he applies himself to whatever he does. We've seen that he's capable of it, if he wants to. (e.g. Reese's Apartment). I think MITM18 is onto something when he says that Reese will probably become something in the cooking industry.

Dewey: Music, of course. Unless he gets sick of it like w/ the hitting the pins game (what is it called?)

Malcolm: I don't think he'll get a proper job for many years: after grad school. I can't think of anything for him. Something centered around computers maybe b/c he has no social skills. He can't be a lawyer. He'd insult his own clients and get irritated when they do stupid things (which is always).

Reese: cleaning pools for millionare Krelboyne's w/ supermodel girlfriends?:D

Francis: something wacky but permanent. Maybe reconsile w/ Otto?:) (That's not gonna happen)

Dewey: Music. He is a gifted musician and you know, he could probably help his brothers or parents if they need, I think thats the kind of thing Dewey would do if he had money.

Reese: He could be an incredible chef, thats what he likes. Reese is the kind of person that ONLY does right what he enjoys:D . He cant do a lots of things, but he uses all his energy (a lot, by the way) for doing a great job in what he likes.

Malcolm: I really dont know. And that makes me nervous. Im so similar to him that I dont know what I AM gonna do when I became an adult!!! Noooooo!!!

Francis: Not a clue.

Dewey some sort of musician. Maybe a music teacher.

Reese a chef. It's perfect for him, and he wouldn't have to go to school for it.

Malcolm is tougher, since he has so many options. I could see him doing some sort of research, inventing and improving technology. He doesn't really have the best people skills. Working in a lab would probably be good for him.

I think, that Reeze could end up more successful than Malcolm, we were kinda given an idea of Malcolm's future in season 4, when he played chess with the old guy just like him, when he was a kid- possibly a teacher??

Francis will never get a permanent job

Dewey- lawyer!!

Future Malcolm. Do you mean who the guy was? He was just a random "loser" who couldn't be a good employee and came to park to beat others at chess. He challenged Malcolm, who was walking through the park, to a game b/c nobody else would play (b/c he always won. Like with the game in Surgery).

(played by Jason ALexander i.e. George, in case you didn't already know)

Not a normal job like office work or lawye or anything. Wacky, but permanent. Like he had with Otto before the money stuff.

No. He's way too nice. Besides, his arguments usually consist of rolling on the floor, whining and wishing he were dead. Malcolm maybe, if he learns to control his comments. Malcolm would be good in court but not actually dealing with clients (like House MD for law:D ).

Hm, this is a bit tough... Let's see:
  • Francis: Permanent, but wacky, yes. But I have no idea what that could entail, though Francis is obviously good with animals and grudgework.
I still don't get how Otto (and Gretchen) could've fired Francis. They seemed to very close, more like quirky friends than employer/employee! In my head they've somehow made up, but I sadly don't think that will ever happen on the show. :(
  • Reese: Something food-related, definitely, probably a chef. But whatever happened to his job as a butcher in "Malcolm's Job"? (I haven't seen all the episodes yet, so I don't know if they ever mentioned him quitting that job or being fired from it.)
  • Malcolm: No real clue, though I like the idea of him having a job in a lab. Maybe he could be a geneticist or something (he could try and find out if he really, truly is genetically doomed! :p).
  • Dewey: Straight pianist and/or a music teacher specialising in piano.
  • Jamie: He's too young to really think up a career for him yet... except maybe professional hitman, considering he tried to kill Lois, and almost succeeded. Lol.

Malcolm a geneticist? Hummm.... maybe. He likes dinosaurs. Maybe he can work cloning them in Jurassic Park. ;)

That's a good question. I don't remember them ever meantioning him leaving the job. Does anyone else? They would go many episodes without meantioning his job, and then would bring it up again, so just because they don't ever talk about doesn't mean he doesn't have the job anymore. Malcolm still works at the Lucky Aide, after all. But the last time I heard it meantioned was in Reese's Apartment. Maybe he lost his job when he ran off to the army. Disappearing for a while is a good way to loose a job.

I think Francis will continue to work in the hospitality industry - I don't remember him leaving Marlin accademy with any decent qualifications and the only jobs he's had have been in a greasy cafe and a hotel. I think he may go on to work in a bar or a nightclub, but probably a casino.

What greasy cafe?

And, at the Grotto, he wasn't in "hospitality". He was the foreman. He did practically everything there.

He can play the piano.

Plus, there's a lot of decent jobs that don't really need qualifications. Also, he's mellowed out quite a bit since the show started. Maybe we'll see him take the GED or something.

Yes, Lavernia's greasy cafe for woodcutters or whatever they did.
How can you possibly say he didn't work in hospitality when he worked in a hotel!? The term 'hospitality' refers to the industry which deals with paying guests, whether it be hotels, restaurants, bars, cafes, B&Bs... Get the picture?
There are plenty of jobs which don't require qualifications, but considering Francis only has experience of working in the hospitality industry, that is where he is most likely to work next.

From what I've seen on TV, casinos in America mainly appear to be operated by native Americans - I pictured Piama getting them both jobs in a casino, whether Francis be working as a croupier or behind the bar - Francis is good with people and seems like tha gambling type.

So are you suggesting he should be a professional pianist? Yes he can play the piano, but there are plenty of people who can play better - Dewey for example. Why would the writers want 2 virtuoso pianists in the family?

You're right, Native Americans run casinos in America--Native Americans are the only ones ALLOWED to run casinos in America. Indians live on patches of land called reservations where they have all kinds of special rules, including exemption from property taxes and casino privilages, if they work out a compact, or aggreement, with the state. Other than that, gambling is illegal.
