Favorite/least favorite aspect of high school

This thread is for people who are, like me, in high school at the present time.
Now before I get into my own personal things, let me just state that as a whole, I don't really like school(who does?:D ) BUT there are a few(I mean VERY FEW) things I do like about it.
LIKE-Any history class(I think history is the best), geography(love learning about foreign lands), foreign language classes(German!), law enforcement/public safety(my "career class", taught by one of the coolest teachers ever, who was a former cop).
DISLIKE-(oh boy!) math, science, ROTC, English(stupid shakespeare!), lunch(worst food ever), school faculty/staff(especially administrators. very few of them are nice. most seem like they want to just annoy the living crap out of you!), buttholes on some of the "extracurricular activities".
Ok, that wraps up me!:D What about you guys?

What is ROTC?

Liked....graduating :D :D and 1.30pm finishes on Thursdays, and the fact that the Principal excused me from sport - big bonus

Disliked.... being bullied, b#$%h teachers, whole-school assemblies dragging on cutting into morning break on Fridays , crappy buildings, the desks were so feral with rubbish and gum etc under them, and the first term holidays was only 1 week instead of 2 - so not long enough!

ROTC stands for Reserve Officers Training Corp. and it's basically for people who only want to be in the military part time. They only call on you if they need you (if there's a war or something.) Junior ROTC is a class high school students can take where they learn about stuff dealing with the military. They have to wear a uniform once a week and do all these drill exercises. I think if they're in it and decide to go in the military after they graduate, they can enter at a higher rank (is that right?) It's kind of like miliary school for Francis, but it's only one class rather than all the time. :D

EGAD!!! You got that right! I'm so glad I didn't do regular English so I escaped that crap! My brother had to do it in grades 11 & 12 (group act-out of a specific section). He decided his group would do theirs on video both years meaning practice runs & filming was done at our house... right outside my bedroom door to be exact (our upstairs hall is big) . But for MacBeth there were only 2 of them so he asked me to film them even though through the whole thing he was being a total jerk .

I don't like all the structure of high school, and the little things that are out of my control, but extremely frustrating. For example, the lunch period is extended at my school and then you have class for x amount of time and lunch for x amount of time. I have study hall that period, and hate how I can't eat at a lunch rather than b lunch, since that's when the rest of my friends eat. Or how there's so many rules for everything. Or how teachers just pile on the homework and forget about other things happeneing in your life. As far as classes, I dislike chemistry. Stoichiometry is the worst!!! Not a fan of Spanish, but for some reason I signed up to take it again next year. It does make my resume look good. :) And I hate algebra ii. I'm really having a problem trying to figure out how to complete the goddamn square. Why do we need to do that anyway???? Anyhow, I have till Tuesday to try and figure out what I'm doing wrong there. I don't particularly like public speaking either, mainly because it's note-taking, not speaking. I don't mind history--that's my most advanced class and I've got a ton of homework in that every night, but I find it somewhat interesting. Except we've been between Reconstruction and World War 1 for like a month now and that period of time is boring to begin with. So I guess there's not a whole lot about school I do like.

I guess I'm the odd one out, but I actually kinda liked high school. I had a close circle of friends and we had a lot of classes together so I guess that helped. Senior year was the best. We had a lot of fun. :) It sucks because after you graduate you kind of lose touch with people that you used to be close to. Those of you who say you hate it will probably miss it after you graduate. Of course I hated homework and stuff and chemistry was definitely my least favorite class in my entire school career. :p Homework was better than writing 15 page papers though, which is what I have to do now.

Like - Umm... yeah. To somewhat quote Malcolm "because one day it stops". Which is this year. The only thing I can think of, is because I'm also in college because of the way our senior year is set up. So I don't have to wake up early everyday and go to high school for 8 hours. Instead I go to college 3 days a week for 2 hours.:p

Dislike - Probably everything. Never liked the kids, the teachers, the classes, or the homework and tests. I also don't like how our high school is run, because it's not very planned out and there are often behind on things. I don't like that I don't get all my days off because college doesn't have the same days off. I don't like that I'm not out until June 26th. I don't like how everyone tries to be tough, and I don't like having to get in fights. I don't like how my friends usually end up leaving either. Also hate hs because we only have one team and that's in basketball(never got to play at my other hs). No wrestling team either : (

Yardgames- I had algebra 2 in college. Not fun at all man. I spent atleast 2 hours per night trying to figure it out, and that's not even counting weekends. Good luck with that man!

Actually, I just figured it out today. :D I have to factor the numbers when I move it out of the parentheses. If you don't do that, then everything comes out too big, which was my problem. Now it's pretty easy. :D

@Wildcat I already have to write 14-page papers. OK, not reguarly, but I had a 50-page biology paper last year and they're shorter (i.e.) 2 pages, but I have to write 2 essays a week for history, and other one or two for composition and I have to write outlines and crap for public speaking. So I get my share of writing. :D

Liked: Not alot really, just my friends and afew of the teachers, because once you got older teachers didn't always talk down to you, (but most of them still did!!). And I did like the fact that you got to drop lessons such as Music, Drama and Food and Textile since the majority of people (like myself) saw these lessons as a time to socialise and have fun, which always ended with trouble.

Disliked: My god where to start..... The fact that once you got to High school (what in the UK I guess would be middle school) teachers just automatically assumed you were grown up more!! (as if). The way that school just takes it upon themselves to decide that 10-12 GCSE's isn't enough and that 2 hours of homework for these lessons each week is right. The fact that lunch was only 45 mins, and that we couldn't walk into town even though the school on the other side of town was aloud to walk to town in their lunch breaks! But the thing that got me so much was that in year 9 you are giving a choice of subjects to carry on into GCSE's, BUT you have to choose them to fit around a timetable. So if you wanted to do something that was in the same row (on this list) you couldn't and had to choose a subject that you had no purpose doing other than to fill time, and still expected to turn up and get a GCSE in that subject!!

Oh, how could I forget to add homework - one of my MAJOR dislikes! Teachers don't care that we've just been at school all day. A few especially loved setting homework in the weekend  I remember in Grade 8 & 9 when regular Maths was compulsory they set homework sheets with stuff that was way too hard so it took several hours to finish it. Mondays always sucked back then because of that. But who needs Algebra and all that crap anyway?

Likes: The fact that you get to see your friends. And i love Drama and ICT.
Dislikes: Ok here we go :D I HATE homework...seriously, id rather add 2 more hours to school than get hwk. I hate the fact that we have to be outside at breaks, when it is freezing cold! I hate strict teachers. I hate Maths (mostly decimals and Fractions i hate, i dont mind algebra coz i understand it,unlike any other part of maths) , Physics, PE, Spanish and English (only when we do Macbeth:mad: )I hate getting up early every week day and then going to bed earlier on weeknights. I hate the uniform rules, i hate certain people in my year, i hate exams, revision, the fact that we dont have any fun things like, outings or anything coz my headteacher doesnt want the school to have any fun. How the less intelligent ones in low sets, get WAY more recognition when they do something good that the intelligent ones in high sets, i hate walking around outside at lunch coz everytime i do that i seem to get hit with either a football or some sorta food...and i could go on but you get the idea!;)

God yeah i couldnt agree more to that! And then when you move up, like im in year 9 now, the teachers say 'dont act like your in year 7', when they say we were suppost to be mature then and not to act like we were in primary school then...

Wow, you must have some really demanding classes! The longest paper I wrote in high school was my senior English research project and that was only like 10-12 pages. :D The price you pay for being a genius. (j/k) ;)
On another note, I HATED public speaking and oral reports now that you mention it. Worse than chemistry, but it doesn't really count cause I didn't take it in high school. I took it last year. Not that it was hard, it's just that I'm the worst public speaker ever and there were like 50 people in my class. My hands shake, then I get all tongue tied and forget to breath. It's not pretty. I got an A cause the professor felt sorry for me, I think. :D

I don't mind the speaking. I just wish we'd do more speaking than note-taking. The HW isn't actually that bad because we had a few weeks to write that bio paper. The problem is trying to balance it all with doing extra-curriculars and trying to figure out where I want to go to college and begging people for money.

Wow a few weeks to write a 50 pg paper...we get a few weeks to write about 8 pgs. Ive got a geography thing to do and i must have had about 5 weeks now, and it only has to be about 7 pgs! Oh and oh yeah add to my hate list...speeches.
