The 'Peanuts' football joke in the "Grandma Sues" cold opener

I didn't get the Peanuts joke in the "Grandma Sues" (4.9) cold opener, because I didn't read a lot of Peanuts comics! I guess I'm Reesetarded too. Malcolm asks if Reese has ever read "Peanuts", and he says no, never, so Malcolm knows he will be fooled by an old straightforward Peanuts trick.

From Rheta Grimsley Johnson’s biography Good Grief: The Story of Charles M. Schulz, about the man who created the comic strip:

"Besides losing, the running (and falling) gag is a pure example of another element that has worked so well for Schulz: repetition (…) Nothing else in Peanuts is so mechanically repetitious as the football joke (….) One newspaper editor canceled Peanuts, complaining that the author did the same things over and over. He was forced to reinstate the comic strip, with an apology, when his readers set up a postal howl"

See the attached picture for the joke. I found the scan on Flickr.

This cold opener is indeed very funny due to combining with what's on the comic strip, all the other COs are funny too.
