An update on Bryan's official site:

So you say you want to make a movie?
I’m working with the Internet web site www.netstudio.tv to develop a short film. We’ve decided we want to make this short film in the Horror genre, and we’re looking for ideas.

It’s actually a contest. If you send in the ideas that we use, you can win cash and prizes.

Contestants can enter at any stage of the contest. Right now we’re at Stage One: The Pitch. <strike>THE DEADLINE FOR THIS FIRST PITCH IS OCTOBER 31 MIDNIGHT</strike>.[The deadline now seems to be in around 3 days] The deadlines for the following phases will be announced at a later date.

I’m the project’s showrunner. That means I’ll be coordinating the contest and writing the final script. If my schedule permits, I’d like to direct the short film…maybe even act in it.

The finished product will be broadcast on www.netstudio.tv It costs nothing to enter the contest. Please check out the site and go to “fright site.” If you’ve got a scary idea, I want to hear it!
Happy Haunting,
Bryan
An amazing opportunity for any writers!

<a href="http://www.malcolminthemiddle.co.uk/2007/11/05/create-a-horror-film-with-bryan-cranston/">We reported</a> nearly 2 years ago about the <em>Fright Site</em> project that Bryan had started. Since then the project has progressed and all but the final stages of the 'writing' have been completed. The project is with <a href="http://www.netstudio.tv/index.php/project/index/16">NetStudio.TV</a> and is a pretty cool concept. Budding writers have had the chance to submit the 'Pitch', 'Plot', 'Characters' and 'Dialogue' with somebody winning each stage. The above video promo came out last month.

From what the website says Bryan is currently choosing the winner of the final stage 'Writer's Block'. I understand that if a successful script is completed the film short/series will be professionally produced and will star Bryan. However in the recent <a href="http://www.malcolminthemiddle.co.uk/2009/08/03/live-qa-with-bryan-cranston-video/">live chat with Bryan</a> I got in the question, asking about its progress. He said he hasn't been in contact with the guy who runs the project for a while and believes that due to the current <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Financial_crisis_of_2007%E2%80%932009">'Credit Crunch'</a> the project has been put on hold and that its a 'wait and see' situation. This jars somewhat with the recent release of the above video (although it was shot sometime ago). We hope it does pick up again and we'll keep you updated.

What a great teaser, very atmospheric! I'm a bit confused too, because I thought the project was on indefinite hold due to other obligations.

I'm more than intrigued, because I pitched a plot as well. It's in the 'Absolutely Filthy Smut' forum for those who have access to it. Topic 'Some mail correspondence with Brian'. It's not really something I would want all the world to see.
