Justin Berfield (Reese) has confirmed on his official forum the news that he is producing a movie based on the true life story of famed cartel leader - Pablo Escobar.
“Escobar” has its financing in place, according to J2 partners Berfield and Felts. Production is slated to begin the in first quarter of 2008 in Colombia and Puerto Rico, and Jere Hausfater will handle international sales through Essential Entertainment. Pic will be introduced at the American Film Market.
The owners of J2, Jason Felts and Justin Berfield, declined through a spokesman to be interviewed. A statement from the spokesman said, “We are pleased to be working with Pablo’s brother, Roberto. Many people, the statement added, want to tell Escobar’s story, “but very few can tell it accurately”

Also as we have reported previously but up until now have been unable to confirm that THINKFilm has acquired North American distribution rights, but no release date has been set.

The series premieres in January 2008.

Frankie was at the Hands on the Wheel safe driving campaign in Las Vegas at the end of last month. Frankie said:

The Malcom in the Middle alum, wearing an LA Clippers jersey, had lunch with a friend at West Hollywood cafe La Conversation on Saturday. Muniz has recently given up acting in the hopes of being an amateur race car driver.

When Conner decides to become the seventh member of the expedition, he has no idea how many friendships he will form and how he experience will change his life. To learn about the Darien Gap and the expedition, and how the film crew challenged the rain and
bugs.

Imagine spending 370 days hacking through a jungle to make a road for a jeep, forging ahead with 6 other travelers to break a world record.
Half of The Art of Travel revolves around this kind of adventure and how Conner becomes part of it, and what he takes from it to go further on his journey to Peru and Bolivia. They fight days of pounding rain, swollen rivers, a 7 mile switch back in the mud, and more! Although it only took nearly three weeks to shoot this entire section, it was enough time for the cast and crew to realize that such a feet would be hell! The Darien Gap has been traveled by people who sought to break records in the past, but only a couple of expeditions ever pulled it off with a vehicle in tow! This section of the film is inspired by these accounts of the Darien.
Frankie on September 16 raced in the Mazda MX-5 Cup which took place at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. During practice, Frankie finished in 8th place out of 28 drivers. A good results considering this was Frankie’s first time racing in a proper sedan race car.
Following Friday’s qualifying session, Frankie started Saturday’s main race in 6th place. During lap 10 of the race, Frankie and Matt Cross were battling for 2nd place, but contact was made on turn 1 causing them both to slid of course. Frankie finished in 25th place.
