On June 10 Frankie Muniz competed in the 2nd Champ Car Atlantic race at Portland International Raceway. Frankie started in 25th place and again managed to improve on his starting position, but during the last lap he got past Brian Thienes to finish in 20th place.

My very first feature parody for (MAD) magazine was “Malcolm in the Middle”. I was contacted by a representative of the actor who played the dad (Bryan Cranston) on the show who was interested in buying the original art. I quoted a reasonable price for it but they never called me back. In the ensuing conversation I was told the actor that played the title character of Malcolm, Frankie Muniz, didn’t like his caricatures…… I haven’t lost any sleep over that.
What do you think Malcolm is saying to each of the family members (and Stevie)?
Here’s mine: Malcolm to Reese: Open your eye’s or you’ll miss him!

He was Malcolm on Malcolm in the Middle. But now Frankie Muniz is 21 and as readers will know he’s now a racecar driver on Champ Car’s Atlantic series. And he tells The Oregonian he plans to remain in the driver’s seat.
The time it takes to reach TV leading-man status can be an instant for some, a lifetime for others. Casting directors around town have a tough time pinpointing what exactly about an actor’s DNA makes that person able to leap from supporting player to top billing.
“The sunshine has to be on you, the planets must be aligned and there must be good writing,” says Dawn Steinberg, casting topper at Sony.
As for the current crop of actors who have potential to carry a show on their own shoulders, Steinberg sees “Entourage” breakout Jeremy Piven, Jeffrey Dean Morgan (”Grey’s Anatomy”) and former “Malcolm in the Middle” dad Bryan Cranston as breakout possibilities.
Hopefully with the strong liklyhood of “Breaking Bad” Byran’s new project getting a green light he will be able to prove he can pull of the leading man role.

Research from Department of Psychology at University College London says that advertisers will sell more stuff if their commercials run during innocuous family-fare programmes rather than sexually charged shows, suggests the new research into the effects of erotic programming on viewers’ response to ads.
The implication is that advertisers do not spend their money well if they buy space during programmes with high sexual content.
The studies involved 60 university students (30 men and 30 women) aged 18 to 31, mean age 21, who were divided into four groups. One group saw an overtly sexual episode of “Sex and The City”, which had sexy adverts running during the programme breaks. Another saw the same episode with non-sexual adverts. The other two groups saw an episode of “Malcolm in the Middle” which contained no sexual references, with either sexual or non-sexual adverts.
Brand recall for advertisements was ‘hindered’ by sexual content of programmes, suggesting there is something particularly involving or disturbing about sexual programmes.
